How Double Torsion Spring Work?
torsion springs are divided into normal single torsion springs and double torsion springs. the design of torsion spring is more complicated among all spring than other springs. and the change of type is also quite lively, so the theory involved in the design is also the most cumbersome.
a double torsion spring belongs to a coil spring. the torsion spring can store and release energy or is statically fixed by rotating the force arm around the central axis of the spring. it is a kind of torsion spring with two identical springs in parallel.
the design of double torsion spring can be divided into two types: no interval spring and interval spring. because the coils are in close contact with each other, the friction will affect the working characteristic line, but it is still widely used because it is easy to manufacture. spiral torsion springs with spacing are used in occasions requiring high precision. the spacing between coils is generally 0.5mm.
double torsion springs are two springs with the same number of turns obtained by winding a spring material on the same spindle in the opposite direction. the middle of the two springs is a snap ring, and the two ends are fulcrum for torque.
the torque of the double torsion spring is the torsional stiffness of each spring, which is equivalent to 2 times of the total length of the two springs when used as a single spring. the stiffness of the parallel double torsion spring is 4 times of its single spring, and the deformation is 1/4 of its single spring. therefore, this parallel double torsion spring has high efficiency.
it can be seen that the function of double torsion spring is twice that of single torsion spring, and its processing is also more complex.
